THE ULTIMATE RETRO WORKOUT PLAYLIST | DAY 25

Are you sick and tired of the 5 doof-doof songs that get played ad nauseum at your gym?

Is your current workout playlist feeling a little stale?

Do you wish you had a playlist that transported you back to the 20th century without its wild modern stresses?

Listen, it really hit home that I was in my 30s the other day when I realised I don't know new music, I don't understand new music, and I honestly don't like it (apart from Lady Gaga, of course).

Yes, I'm well aware that it makes me a Nanna, but I also refuse to give up my side part, and baggy jeans do nothing for my ass, so it is what it is and there's nothing we can do about it.

And if you're in the same boat as me and you're looking for a workout playlist that's equal parts nostalgic and motivational, I've got you.

This bumper playlist of 137 songs contains NOTHING after 2005, and is guaranteed to contain some bangers to grapevine, chasse and sidestep to in your retro workout.

What have I left out - do you have any suggestions? Let me know in the comments below.

Now without further ado, onto the Captain's Log for yesterday.

If you’ve just joined us, I’m on a 90 day fitness journey and I’m logging every day of progress, including my meals and workouts, as I journey back to my health.

I’m a certified personal trainer who struggled with yo yo diets and extreme workouts until one day, I just couldn’t take it anymore and gave up on my weight altogether ... that is, until a recent health scare that landed me in the hospital (you can read more about my story here).

Now I’m on a mission to finally take charge of my health and fitness, lose weight in a healthy, self loving way and get into the best shape of my life. If you’re on a similar journey, I’d love to stay in touch.

Keep reading to read yesterday’s log, scroll to the bottom to read the previous days, and if you’d like to stay updated on the journey and receive the FREE guide that’s helped me get amazing results so far, click the pic below to be taken to the download page.

Nutrition

Breakfast

I woke up today not feeling hungry at all, so I didn't eat until about 1 pm and broke my fast with a bowl of Oat Flake and All Bran cereal (3/4 cup cereal, 1/2 cup milk).

It's rare that I don't feel like food, but it does happen, especially in summer. I tend to lose my appetite if it gets too hot. Does this happen to anyone else?

Dinner

Yup - told you I wasn't hungry!

For dinner tonight I had my leftover pizza and if you can believe it, it tasted even better the second night. What is it with leftover pizza? Pasta's the same I find. As yummy as it is, it's 10 x yummier the next day!

Dessert

Dessert was a Quest protein bar. Quest bars are my favourite thing - I tried a birthday cake flavour this time, but I don't think I liked it as much as the others.

My favourite Quest flavour is raspberry white chocolate. Have you tried Quest bars? What's your favourite flavour?

Workout

Kept my workout really basic today with a 30 minute feel good workout - a Mousercise blast from the past. Do any of my fellow 80s babies remember Mousercise?

I really hope they add it to Disney+!!!

Well, team, it's a short but sweet one (I spent a long time collating the playlist, so I'm out of writing juice and need to get dinner on).

Let's huddle in for a super quick motivation message.

Happiness isn't a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

We can feel happy at any moment we choose.

We can find joy in the tiny moments now.

Don't put off feeling happy until you've reached your goal. Choose to be happy now.

Choose yourself and your joy today.

Even if things aren't perfect yet.

Choose to smile, to laugh, to be kind to others, and to appreciate the little things (and yourself).

When you do that, reaching your goal becomes the cherry on top, instead of the whole sundae.

How will you choose to be happy today?

Until tomorrow, keep shining bright.
