Do you want to lose weight, get fit, or get strong but have no idea where or how to start?
Four weeks ago, I was in your shoes.
I knew I wanted to make a change, and I knew I was going to.
(This blog metamorphosis was cooking away.)
Yet I just ... couldn't ... seem ... to get ... started.
Now that I'm 13 days in, I can't believe it took me so long. I know getting started can feel SO daunting - but it's the hardest part.
It's a lot easier to keep moving than it is to start moving.
So how do you get started? Here's are some quick tips that really helped me get the ball rolling.
Fill your fridge and pantry with the healthiest food you can access and afford: You'll be less tempted to reach for unhealthy options or takeout because there's no healthy food in the house.
Pin some healthy recipes: Pinterest is a great place to find delicious healthy recipes to try - it will get your mouth watering and get you excited to start cooking!
Follow people on a similar journey: Follow the IG accounts of people who are on a similar journey to you - only if it feels good and motivating. Remember, it's great to get inspired by others' journeys, as long as you don't compare. Your journey is unique to YOU. (BTW, you can follow my weight loss journey on Instagram here.)
Make a list of exercise/types of workout you enjoy: Don't throw yourself into the deep end with intense workouts you don't like doing. Start at your level with movement you enjoy. Brainstorm ideas e.g. yoga, brisk walking, kick boxing, Pilates, burlesque dancing.
Enlist a buddy: Having a workout buddy can really hold you accountable and get you motivated if you know someone's counting on you to follow through. Commit to checking in virtually with one another by text or voice memo if you can't catch up in person.
Consider a personal trainer if you have the budget: A qualified fitness professional can not only help motivate you and keep you accountable, but will also make sure you're doing the right exercises for your body and fitness level with the proper form so you get real results without injuring yourself.
Group classes are a lower barrier alternative to 1:1 training: Classes are also a great way to meet new people with similar goals.
Most importantly, start small: Don't try to do ALL THE THINGS at once. Start with a small daily action you can easily commit to, like drinking more water, and build healthy habits gradually. This will prevent overwhelm and burnout, so you get and stay healthy and fit for the long haul.

Now, onto the Captain's Log for yesterday.
D'oh, another sleepness night before crashing out at 5 am and waking up just before work. Must research why that's happening!
Raced downstairs and grabbed some Weet Bix with honey before I had to log in for work.
("Stock" image from a previous day as I was time crunched.)
I also enjoyed an espresso - I'm getting better at making them now. I can get the coffee foamy without milk, so I'm adding less and less milk each day. Now I just add a splash to change the colour.
Dear God, I was craving sushi like NOTHING else. Uber Eats to the rescue.
When I was working in the city, I used to eat sushi regularly. Now I work from home I don't get to enjoy it as much, but every now and then I indulge myself by ordering Sushi Train in. My favourite sushi roll flavours are:
Chicken and avocado
Tuna salad and avocado
What's your favourite kind of sushi?
You know when you go out and buy a bunch of groceries, then come home and don't want to cook because you're so tired from shopping for groceries?
It was a mood last night.
We knew we were going to feel that way, so rather grabbing takeaway on the way home we picked up an easy cook quiche and salad from the supermarket.
Dinner was a cinch and SO delicious.
For dessert I had my fave: YoPro vanilla yoghurt with Bondi Protein Co banana protein powder. It was divine! I mixed in a little All Bran cereal for extra crunch and fibre.
Okay, guess what I found that I'm a little bit excited about?
A retro style aerobics workout that's filmed at ... ** drumroll ** Walt Disney World.
Which is totally where I want to be right now.
Denise Austin filmed a workout outside the Grand Floridian Hotel. It was a mixture of aerobics and weights.
It took only 20 minutes but I felt like I'd been working out for an hour by the end, and I'm even sore today in my shoulders and biceps. It's a great burn and really hit the spot yesterday afternoon.
Well, that's it for today my loves. Let's huddle in quick for the motivation message today.
You don't have to start perfect.
You don't have to get it right the first time.
You don't have to have new workout gear.
Start small. Start with what you have. Start today.
Your future self will look back and be glad you did.
Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Now go out there and get your dreams.
Until tomorrow, my glam babies, keep shining bright.
